Survivors

Survivors are the playable characters of Yet Another Zombie Survivors. At the start of a run, players pick a survivor to be the team leader, which grants a passive bonus such as increased reload speed or armor, called a leader perk. Additional survivors can be rescued during the run, up to a maximum of 3 (including the leader). Survivors rescued in this way will provide half the value of their leader perk.

Survivors can also rank up by getting kills with them as the team leader. All survivors start at rank 1, and reach rank 2 after 5,000 kills, and rank 3 after an additional 20,000 kills. The value of their leader perk is doubled with each rank, and additional powerups become available to them.

There are currently 7 playable survivors in the game. The selection screen hints that at least 2 more survivors will be added as the game is developed.

SWAT

A strong-willed and charismatic soldier. The Horde took everything he loved, but he's more than ready to return the favour. While the world he knew may be gone, there are many people in need of protections, and he's determined to fight for what he believes is right.

Tank

Main article: Tank

He's big. He's pissed. Good thing he's on your side! A skilled mercenary with a perfect record, Tank earned his nickname during his time as a security guard before the apocalypse. What he lacks in personal charm, he makes back in sheer toughness and his love for big guns.

Engineer

While their classmates were making potato-powered batteries, they built a plasma-powered rodent trap. "Brains over brawn" takes on a whole new meaning as the Engineer's ingenuity and quick thinking give the survivors an edge in the fight against the undead.

Huntress

In search of her lost daughter, she begins her hunt. With much experience in hunting big game, she quickly discovers that the undead are no different from her usual prey. The Hunter uses her dexterity and perception to bring down even the largest of foes.

Ghost

Shrouded in mystery, this ninja-like warrior specializes in melee combat. Not much is known of their past, but their skill in fighting zombies is second to none. It is said that those who have seen what's behind Ghost's mask are already dead, or worse.

Medic

Main article: Medic

Some share the rumor that she has worked for the company that is accused of causing the zombie virus. Whether she fights out of the goodness of her heart or to atone for the sins she may have committed, her help on the battlefield is irreplaceable.

Pyro

Main article: Pyro

Once a firefighter, he found himself in a somewhat unhealthy relationship with burning flames. His lack of fear is an asset when it comes to fighting the Horde using various elemental damage sources. Though unpredictable and impulsive, his true nature is that of a kind soul who'll walk through inferno to help his comrades survive the hell on Earth.
